We Shot 4 Different Walls with Real Guns - Which One Survived? 🔫

We decided to conduct an extreme experiment and subjected four popular wall types to a serious ballistic test. We wanted to find out how safe different constructions are and which material can withstand direct shots from different caliber weapons. Watch the video to see it all with your own eyes!

Wall Types Tested:
  • Expanded Clay Concrete Blocks (300mm)
  • Aerated Concrete (375mm)
  • Timber Frame Wall (250mm with rigid insulation)
  • Precast Reinforced Concrete Sandwich Panel (300mm: 70mm concrete / 150mm PIR / 80mm concrete)
Weapons Used:
  • CZ Shadow 9mm (energy ~500 joules)
  • AR-15 .223 caliber (energy ~1800 joules)
  • Tikka .308 Winchester (energy ~3700 joules)

Round 1: 9mm Pistol

We started with the 9mm CZ Shadow pistol. As expected, the timber frame wall was shot through without any problems. A bigger surprise was the aerated concrete – even the 375mm thick block couldn't stop the bullet. However, the expanded clay concrete block successfully stopped the bullet, leaving only a small indentation. For the reinforced concrete panel, the hit was barely noticeable – just a few millimeter scratch.

Round 2: AR-15 Assault Rifle

The next test was conducted with the AR-15, which is approximately 3-4 times more powerful. The timber frame and aerated concrete sustained significantly larger damage, and the bullets went through without catching. To our surprise, the 300mm expanded clay concrete block was able to stop these bullets too! The reinforced concrete panel finally showed more visible damage – approximately 3 cm deep crater, but the bullet didn't even get through the first 7cm thick concrete layer.

Round 3: .308 Winchester Hunting Rifle

Finally, we used the very powerful Tikka .308 Winchester rifle. This time the aerated concrete and timber frame wall were literally perforated. But the expanded clay concrete block surprised again – even with this caliber, the bullets didn't go through, getting stuck in the construction. In the reinforced concrete panel, the crater became deeper, but the first layer was still not breached.

Final Test: Endurance Check

To test maximum endurance, we fired 4 shots with .308 caliber at one point. The expanded clay concrete block finally gave in and shattered. In the reinforced concrete panel, we only managed to shoot through the first, 7cm thick concrete layer. In desperation, we fired another 25 bullets at one point, but without success – the panel remained intact, without a single crack on the other side.

Test Results Summary:

  • 🔹 Timber Frame (250mm) - Failed every test.
  • 🔹 Aerated Concrete (375mm) - Surprisingly, shot through already with 9mm bullet.
  • 🔹 Expanded Clay Concrete Blocks (300mm) - Impressive performance, stopped most bullets. Pleasant surprise!
  • 🔹 Precast Reinforced Concrete Panel (300mm) - ABSOLUTE WINNER! Withstood 25+ shots without penetration.

Conclusion: If you're looking for maximum safety and bullet resistance, the precast reinforced concrete sandwich panel is an unbeatable solution. Expanded clay concrete proved itself as an unexpectedly strong competitor, while aerated concrete's performance was disappointing.
